We are delighted to confirm that the hugely popular US fantasy author Scott Lynch (http://www.scottlynch.us/) will be the third Guest of Honour for the event. Lynch burst onto the fantasy scene with The Lies of Locke Lamora in 2006, which was a huge critical and commercial success. The first in the Gentleman Bastards series, this was followed by 2007’s Red Seas Under Red Skies and 2013’s The Republic of Thieves. This summer sees the release of the much-anticipated fourth title in the series, The Thorn of Emberlain. Scott will will be taking part in a range of activities over FantasyCon weekend.
Lynch joins the two existing Guests of Honour, Costa Book Award and Costa Children’s Book Award winner Frances Hardinge – recently also nominated for The Carnergie Medal – and Adam Nevill, one of the most popular and acclaimed horror authors of recent times.
FantasyCon Chair Alex Davis said: ‘We’re delighted with how the line-up of Guests of Honour is taking shape so far, and as well as having two serious genre talents from the UK we have now landed a significant name from the US and someone who is at the forefront of an exciting new wave in fantasy fiction. We’re far from done announcing Guests of Honour, so you can expect even more news to come!’
